WELCOME TO THE WALTON CASUALS JUNIORS FOOTBALL CLUB.
The ‘Juniors’ started out in 2001 with a few dads getting together wanting to provide their boys with regular Competitive football games. A team was formed and called the Aztecs, all the players were Under 8’s playing Sunday morning football in The Surrey Primary League. The team were seeded straight into the Premier League and the players did not disappoint - they won the League and Cup in their first year.
Of those players 6 were still playing last season for the Club and of the original dads, 3 are still giving time to the Club each and every week namely; Chris Westphal (General Football Manager); Andy Devine (Treasurer) and your author of this article Paul Stevens (Chairman). Each season a League honour has been won by one of the teams and the Juniors nearly all play in the same colours as the Seniors, so they are instantly recognisable locally.
Much has happened since then - the Juniors now comprise of some 200 players or 15 teams with at least 2 teams at every age group from U8’s (7-a-side) up to and including U14’s (11-a-side) and one very successful girls team at U11’s. The Juniors still play Sunday morning football (and generally train on Saturday mornings) occupying various local school pitches. The Club is also an F.A. Charter Standard Club and have been for the last 4 Years requiring child protection policies; qualified referees and coaches and set F.A. standards to comply with.
So where are we going? Well, the intention is to continue to grow by adding two new U8’s each season to feed the Club for the future whilst at the other end the current U14’s will continue on each season and become the first team players of the future. At least 7 already play Surrey representative football and have been at various Professional Club Academies.
Our general aim is to provide football to as many youngsters in the local area as possible and if your son or daughter is interested in playing then why not give either Chris Westphal (07930 747506) or me, Paul Stevens (07768 805207) a call and we will try and accommodate your child.
Walton Casuals FC has an exciting future with the proposals for a new state of the art clubhouse with balcony and return of the old scrubland behind the main clubhouse to pitches for use primarily for the Juniors section well underway. At the other end of the Club there is a class Seniors playing surface envied by many and a squad of players who are serious about doing well in their League as I am sure they will.
Paul Stevens (Chairman of Walton Casuals Juniors F.C.)
